ABOUT THE ARTIST

JOMI (JOsef MIchael Kreutzer) studied under Marcel Marceau in Paris, concluded his studies with a diploma and since 1981 he has been working as a pantomime soloist and as an instructor for mime and body language. In 1988 JOMI founded the 'Festival of International Pantomime' in the Saarland and he created an adequate platform for artists and interested people of different nationalities and cultural environments to perform the various types of pantomime. In 1991 he became a lecturer of pantomime and body language at the musical academy of the Saarland. Since 1997 JOMI - himself deaf since his earliest childhood - has been one of the chairpersons of 'EUCREA Germany', the EUropean Association for CREAtivity of and with handicapped artists. In 1999 JOMI was honoured with the Order of Merit of the German Republic by the German President, at that time Johannes Rau, for his credits to the art of pantomime and the intercultural relationships. Because pantomime and body language have no need for translation and therefore can be understood as well as interpreted all over the world, JOMI performs worldwide. His success on tours through all European countries, North Africa and especially Latin America show the acknowledgement and popularity of his person. He is a man who is obliged to his vocation by persistence, commitement, seriousness and affirmation of life.
